Obituary of Tennessee Lewis
Tennessee Lewis was born in Bernice, Louisiana, on March 20, 1935 to Monroe Moore and Lettie Pearl Young. She was the youngest of four siblings. Her parents relocated to Magnolia, AR in 1938. She attended school in the Columbus District.
She married Nathaniel Lewis in 1956 and their union was blessed with five children, Cecil Ray Mack, Mary Ann, Burnell, Lucille, and Lucious “Perry” Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Lewis, one son, Burnell Lewis, one brother, Leon “Sundown”, and one sister, Mittie “Nunnie”.
Tennessee passed away on November 18, 2017, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. She loved her family and her church. She became a member of the Mount Pleasant AME Church in 1956 where she served faithfully until the Lord called her home. She was the president of the Missionary Society, a Church Steward, Trustee, Choir Member, and served on the kitchen committee. Her pound cake was legendary in her community. She also was known for her work with her friends Bobbie Jenning and Helen Mangum during tag sales. She was loved by many people in her community and in the surrounding area.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Cecil R. Mack of Lemon Grove, CA, Mary Ann (Amastee) Wright of Lawton, OK, Lucille (Rev. Harvey) Stoker of Oklahoma City, OK, Lucious (Mary) Lewis of Magnolia, AR, five grandchildren: Stephanie, Tony, Kevin, Stacie, and Brandi; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister: Rosie M. Ellenburg of Oroville, CA, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
