Obituary of Rev. Willie Lewis

Reverend Willie Arthur Lewis, age 73, of 1324 Della St, Texarkana, TX died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Christus St. Michael Health System of Texarkana, TX. Rev. Lewis was born March 29, 1941, in Texarkana . He is the son of the late Robert and the late Noble (Sanders) Lewis. He married Rosie Lee Shackelford Lewis. He was employed by McMillan Construction and formerly pastored Lanesport Baptist Church, as well as Wynn Baptist Church, and Stark Hill Baptist Church . He served as moderator of Ozan Baptist District Association, and was a member of the Texas Senior High School Board. Rev. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Lula Lewis, two sisters; Berthelma Williams, Emma Jean Holmes, and one brother, Bennie Townsel. He is survived by his wife: Rosie Lee(Shackelford) Lewis, five children, Minister Tabitha (Rev. Floyd) Dudley, of Houston TX, Veronica Lewis, Absalom Lewis, Yolander (Rev. Howard) Thomas, and Travon (India) Lewis, all of Texarkana, TX, four brothers; Rev. Robert (Gwendolyn) Lewis, Jr. of Chino, CA, Dickey Wayne (Denise) Lewis, of Grand Prairie, TX, Jimmie Lewis and Willie Lewis of Texarkana, TX, six sisters; Bertha Walker and Carrie Sims, both of Los Angeles, CA, Frances Trice of Texarkana, TX, Marie Johnson of Aurora, CO, Eliza Matilda (Rev. Calvin) Woodside of Nash, TX, and Esther Lewis of Shreveport, LA, seven grandchildren, and one aunt, Minister Ruthie Johnson. Funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 22, at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2921 Norris Cooley Dr, Texarkana, TX. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am until the beginning of service.
