Obituary of S.P. Crayton

S. P. "Pete" Crayton, age 62, of Camden, formerly of Mt. Holly, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home. Mr. Crayton was born August 28, 1952 in El Dorado, AR. He is the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Cooper) Crayton. Pete united with the Union AME Church at a young age and was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Holly High School. He is remembered as a very friendly, loving, and humble person who was always fun to be around. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Crayton, and one sister Joyce Crayton. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother and stepfather, Elroy and Mary Crayton Montgomery of Mt. Holly, AR, two sisters, Lavern Turner (Richard), and JoAnn Lee, both of Camden, AR, one foster sister, Carrie Thomas (Tyrone) of Benton, AR, four step-sisters, Jeannette Montgomery, Joann Montgomery, Mary Jane Montgomery, and Madrew McClendon, three aunts, Charlette Jones (L.C.), Valestene Jackson (Thurman), and Diane Rowden (Cliff),all of Magnolia, four uncles, Lloyd Cooper, Jr (Dorothy) of Magnolia, Herman Dean Cooper, of Oceanside, CA, Harold Cooper (Linda), Muskegon, MI, and Frank Crayton, of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including his closest friend, Leo Davis, Jr. of Mt. Holly, AR. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 13 at the A.C. Henderson Memorial Chapel, 614 Calhoun Rd., Magnolia, AR with Rev. Gregory Box officiating. Burial will be in Smead Cemetery, Mt. Holly, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. The family will receive guests at the JC Building on Frederick St in Magnolia immediately following the service. There will be no public viewing.
