Obituary of Mrs. Jewel McDonald

Mrs. Jewel L. McDonald, born January 19, 1919, of 67 Col 14 E, transitioned to holy rest on Friday, January 11, 2013, just shy of her 94th birthday. Mrs. McDonald was born, raised, and lived her life in Emerson, AR. She was the daughter of the late Louis Doss and the late Mae Willie Reed Doss. She met and married the late Zachary Penegar McDonald and with him raised nine children and three grandchildren. Mrs. McDonald was a beloved mother and homemaker who loved her church, the Forest Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal, where she spearheaded countless fundraisers to advance the ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Nathaniel Penegar and two daughters, Shirley Penegar and Jeweleen Penegar. Her memory is cherished by her four surviving sons: Arthaniel Penegar, Zachary Penegar, Jr., Samuel L. Penegar, and George Penegar; two daughters, Vereasia Penegar and Willie "Penny" Penegar, fifteen grandchildren, three of whom, Nathan Lawayne, Michael, and Earl Penegar, were raised in her home, forty-one great-grandchildren, and nineteen great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the A.C. Henderson Memorial Chapel, 614 Calhoun Rd, Magnolia, AR. Burial will follow in the Forest Grove CME Cemetery, Emerson, AR, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. Visitation will be Friday, January 18, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and a wake will be held in Mrs. McDonald's honor from 6 - 7 p.m. at the chapel.
