Obituary of William Keener

William "Willie Henry" Keener, age 80, of 1017 W. Calhoun St, Magnolia died Friday, September 21, 2012 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, AR. Mr. Keener was born March 20, 1932 in Magnolia.He is the fourth of five children, (three of whom preceeded him in death) born to the union of the late William and the late Doshia Blackmon Keener. "Willie Henry" attended Freehope Community School. As an adult, he moved to Houston, TX where he became an electrician. Later, he moved to Detroit, MI, where for many years, he worked with the Surgical Doctors at Henry Ford Hospital before deciding to join Ford Motor Company. He met and married Carrie Ann Jones Keener. This union was blessed with a son, William Keener, III. After a successful career at Ford Motor Company, William retired and moved back to Magnolia, where he was an active member of the Unity AME Church family. Later, he married Ruthie Marshall Keener. William and Ruthie raised Richard Allen as their own. William leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Ruthie Keener, his son, William Keener, III (Chicago, IL), one brother Ray (Ernestine) Keener (Inkster, MI), his brother-in-law, Elroy Montgomery, granddaughter Anna Hill (Pontiac, MI), step grandson, Richard Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Unity AME Church, 541 Col 38, Freehope Community, Magnolia, AR, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Freehope Cemetery, Col 61, Magnolia.
