My dearest cousin always felt more like an auntie. From the time I was a little girl visiting from kansas city, Sally went out of her way to make me feel welcome. I will miss her wit, her hugs and her delicious cakes!

This hurts my heart in so many ways. She was my kindergarten teacher and she loved us all equally. My mother worked with her as back then called a teachers aide. (Linda Hare) We are beyond sorry for your loss of this exceptional lady.

When life comes full circle, it beautifully reveals how God is present in every moment, even down to the smallest fraction of a second. One of my most cherished memories is when you would speak of your basketball days, your eyes sparkling with excitement and a playful chuckle in your voice as you recounted your skills—both offensively and defensively. I’ll never forget how you also talked about the fierce rivalry between the Hayesville and Homer girls' basketball teams, and how you highlighted a player from Homer who had skills that matched your own. You would smile, knowing that you were speaking about my mother, Jessie Tims Smith.
Though you were rivals during those years, God had a different plan. In His divine timing, the two of you ended up on the same team. The combination of your offense and defense, alongside other talented players, became something truly remarkable. This team—through sacrifice, perseverance, and a commitment to service—achieved so much for their families and the students of the Haynesville school system. With every victory, you embodied kindness, determination, and the joy of a team that played with both heart and humility.
I now understand, more deeply, the significance of those stories you shared. Thank you for loving that godly rivalry and for continuing to pass down your basketball experiences. They have taught me far more than you can ever imagine—they’ve shown me how God can take what seems like competition and turn it into a force for good.

This morning, my beloved Aunt Geraldine “Sally” Coleman took her final breath. My dear Aunt Sally, I’m so incredibly grateful for all the love and support you’ve given me and our family over the years. Your wisdom and guidance have been invaluable to all of us; we’re so thankful for your encouragement to be the best versions of ourselves. You’ve been an inspiration to many in the family, and your 40 plus years of dedication to Claiborne Parish Schools has been truly remarkable. Always a teacher at heart ♥️
My heart is heavy with grief, but I also find comfort in the memories we’ve shared. You’ll always be with us, in spirit and in love.
With all my love,
Robert
