Obituary of Lonnie J Porchia

On May 8, 1940, Lonnie Joe Porchia was born to the late Joe and Norma Porchia.  He made his transition on January 29, 2024.

A life-long resident of the Stephens community, Lonnie Joe attended  Carver High School and was a member of Carver’s Class of 1959.  As with other  Porchias, he was a great basketball player.  Provision for his family was afforded through employment at Elk Roofing, Lockheed Martin, and Ouachita Medical Center—Lonnie Joe labored until his health failed.  He was a member of the St. Stephens Baptist Church and sang in the St. Stephens Male Chorus.

Lonnie Joe married Dorothy Weaver on November 8, 1959 with five sons resulting from this union:  Joe, Julius, Richard, Edward Earl, and Glen.  Joe and Richard, as well as his parents; a grandson:  Derrick Utsey; sister:  Catherine Virginia Lewis; brothers:  Vincent, Larry, and Ralph Porchia preceded him in death.

Cherishing his memories are:  his wife of 64 years:  Dorothy Porchia; three sons:  Julius, Edward (Robin), and Glen (Kesha) Porchia; 18 grandchildren:  Joetta, Marchetta, and Everett Porchia; Robert Anderson, Jr., Kiara Rabion, Mariah  and Kaylon Neal; LaDonna, Ricardo, LaKheita, and RiKheita Porchia, Darnell and Dewayne Summers; Kyler, Seller, and Marquese Porchia, Adriana Jones,  and Daja Monk; numerous great-grands; daughter-in-law: Rayette Porchia; one sister-in-law:  Glenda Porchia; a special family friend: Ruthilene “Bebe” Edwards, and copious nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
